Cindy Rasicot (Marriage and Family Therapist, MFT) is a retired psychotherapist and worked for many years for non-profit organisations. In 2005 she travelled to Thailand with her family where she met Bhikkhuni Dhammananda – an encounter that changed her life.
In 2020 she wrote Finding Venerable Mother: A Daughter’s Spiritual Quest to Thailand. Since then she has written articles in journals and anthologies, and started the online Casual Buddhism series to give more people access to Bhikkhuni Dhammananda’s gentle and powerful wisdom.
Published by Windhorse Publications in 2024, her book This Fresh Existence: Heart Teachings from Bhikkhuni Dhammananda recounts Venerable Dhammananda’s remarkable journey to becoming the first woman to receive full ordination into the Thai Theravada Buddhist tradition. The book was a 2025 Nautilus Book Awards Gold Winner as well as receiving the 2025 Nautilus Special Honors ‘Ordained to Lead: Women’s Spiritual Legacy Award’.
