Śraddhāpa

Śraddhāpa was born and brought up in Scotland. He studied Scandinavian languages and translation at the University of Edinburgh and University College London before moving to Oslo in 2006. He completed a BA in the History of Religion at the University of Oslo in 2012, and is currently studying for an MPhil in Sanskrit. His main focus of interest is Mahayana sutras, and he has contributed translations to Great Faith, Great Wisdom and to the forthcoming Common Buddhist Text. He started practising Buddhism at the Edinburgh Buddhist Centre at the age of 16, and was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2015. His name means ‘He Who Protects His Faith’. He teaches and practises at the Oslo Buddhist Centre, and is active in the animal rights movement in Norway.
